Relax by the beach

Australia is known for its picturesque beaches and what better way to spend a day relaxing by the beach soaking up the summer sunshine and dipping in the beautiful ocean. Most beaches are now accessible for anyone to enjoy, offering easier access by providing ramps, wheelchair beach mats and accessible change rooms and showers. However, not all beaches are easily accessible, but you can find one near you by going to the Accessible Beaches Directory. Throughout the years, there has been a big push to make more and more of our beautiful beaches accessible to all.

Surfs up! What better way to enjoy the Australian summer then to learn how to surf. You can find out what branches are nearby and upcoming events by going on the Disabled Surfers Association of Australia website.

Sightseeing national parks

If you're an adventurer, you might want to take a look at the beauty of a national park. Many national parks around Australia have wheelchair accessible trails. Search for the best accessible nation park on the Queensland Government website.

Don't forget if you're cooling down this summer at the beach or adventuring off sightseeing in the national parks to slap on the sunscreen, put on a hat and stay hydrated with a bottle of water!

Cultural Outings

If you don't enjoy being outside in the summer heat, there are a range of indoor activities that are accessible for people to enjoy such as museums, art galleries and theatres. This is a great way to escape the summer heat. Australia has an abundance of museums and art galleries that are local or if you're down for a trip to the big cities that have a larger venue. Many of them have been designed to have inclusive spaces and be accessible to anyone.

Animal fever

Aquariums, Sanctuaries and Zoos can be a great place for people of all ages and accessibility to go to. Most places have been designed with wide pathways perfect for wheelchair access and accessible facilities. Some places you'll see they offer motorised scooters or even convenient buggies/ trains that venture throughout the parks. Before heading to the zoo, be sure to check out their accessibility on their website.
